Jefferson House
At Jefferson House Dual Diagnosis Rehabilitation Center, young adults receive the care they need, in a relaxed setting removed from the stress of daily life. Located in Arizona, our program treats the whole person suffering from addiction, as opposed to a "detox and release" situation, which often has addicts in and out of treatment centers indefinitely. We take factors into account that most facilities overlook, such as mental illness, past failed diagnoses, medical instability, and more. In fact, it's exactly why the Jefferson House Center was started: To create a place where those in need of additional help can get the necessary services for a successful recovery.
We provide a learning and "living recovery" environment, utilizing a 90-day, 12 step recovery-based residential treatment program where the whole person is evaluated with spiritual and clinical focus. This means you or your loved one receive the ultimate in multidimensional recovery care, including:
- Meditation and Prayer
- Work Ethic
- 12 Step meetings
- Step Study and Big Book Study
- Life Skills Series
- Group Therapy (5 times weekly for 90 minutes)
- Team Building (1 time weekly for 3 hours) – Focus on building trust, communication skills, building relationships.
- Individual Therapy
- Medical and Psychological evaluation in the first 48 hours
- Ongoing Comprehensive Review During the 90-day stay

Our living recovery program means dually diagnosed young adults, who may have had difficulty finding appropriate treatment in the past, now enjoy a setting wherein both their struggle with substance abuse and the unique challenges of mental illness or psychological instability are addressed. Traditional drug and alcohol rehab facilities may refuse treatment for individuals with psychological disorders, just as it is common for mental illness treatment programs to refuse services to those engaged in substance abuse. Jefferson House gives caregivers a chance to show residents that changing their life isn’t impossible, and that in fact it comes naturally in such a life-affirming setting.
Each resident receives individual clinical and medical care from licensed professionals. Rehab specialists help change the resident’s lifestyle using key activities, such as daily meditation, group therapy, didactic education, step study, exercise, and healthy life skills. Each specific activity focuses on responsible recovery. When the resident moves to the next level of care within the Gatehouse Academy structure, they will have a foundation built using the 12 Steps as a guide for communication, relationships, work ethic, self care and spiritual growth. Upon successfully building skills to cope with the unique challenges of their diagnosis, Jefferson House residents transition to Gatehouse Academy where they continue the rehabilitation process and prepare to re-enter society free of the ills of addiction, and ready for a new life.
