What to Bring
The following is to be used as a general guideline as to what a new resident should bring with them for their stay at Gatehouse Academy.
Prescription Medications
Please come with a 30 day supply of prescription medications.
Clothing
- Collared polo style shirts (men)
- Jacket (dress and casual)
- Heavy jacket (winter)
- Dress Pants or khakis (men)
- Dress Shirt/Tie (men)
- Blue jeans
- Socks and underwear
- Tennis shoes
- Sandals
- Hiking boots
- Boots appropriate for horseback riding (must have a heel)
- Belt
- Sweaters and sweatshirts (no hoods)
- T-shirts (women – no bare midriffs, lower back must not show when seated)
- Gloves
- Ski cap/beanie (winter)
- Swim trunks/Bathing Suit
- Gym shorts
- Shorts (women – no less than finger-tip length while standing)
- Skirts (women – no less than finger-tip length while standing)
- Tank tops (men - for work ethic only; women – straps must be 1” wide, no halter tops, or backless shirts)
- Yoga pants/shorts
- Dress (women)
Miscellaneous
- Backpack
- Sunglasses
- Discman or Walkman (preferably without a radio)
- Any court/probation information that may apply
Toiletries
- Toothpaste
- Toothbrush
- Razors
- Shaving cream (gel type only)
- Dental floss
- Visine
- Soap
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Sunscreen
- Lip balm
- Moisturizer
Note: Toiletries will be replenished during the course of your stay (specific premium brands may be excluded)
Things to Leave at Home
- Laptops (the appropriateness will be assessed after 3 months)
- Cell phones
- Candy, food, drinks, etc.
- Books and magazines (other than AA literature)
- Addresses other than family members
- Postage stamps (supplied by Gatehouse Academy)
- Money
- Over-the-counter medications (these will be supplied by Gatehouse Academy as required)
- Mouthwash (unless alcohol free)
- Clothing advertising alcohol and/or drugs
- Towels, sheets, and pillows (supplied by Gatehouse Academy)
