I have been active in the recovery world for 23 years and it is apparent that long term drug rehab programs work the best.

This is particularly the case with young adults 17 - 25 years of age. Young adults need the time to change old habits and build self esteem thru new actions. The longer you can keep a person in drug rehab the better their chances are.

I mean it just makes plain old sense!

I agree that the longer treatment programs are more effective. For me, it took at least a couple months to start to realize how much I needed to be in treatment, and there were several rough times after that where I was pretty clueless as to what was going on with me even with all of the support and coaching at Gatehouse. It took a lot of practice to change the way I lived, and it continues to take time to wake up to life sober. The more practice and healing that can be done the better.

I am a supporter of whatever works. I have seen long term rehabs work for many people. Being in an environment that is supportive and helps you reprogram your brain to not wanting to use alcohol or drugs to solve your problems. To have life experiences sober and in a controlled environment, it can only help and better prepare you for the “real” world.

Long term youth drug rehab offers many solutions to overcome or combat alcoholism and drug addiction. I know this to be true because I have been through long term youth drug rehab. It was a year long. It was one of the most beneficial things that I could have done fro myself having been addicted to drugs. It showed ways in which I could be free from anger and pride. It taught me how to handle sobriety and to be of service, meaning giving back to my community, it showed me that I could be a functioning member of society, and also to identify what my triggers are. The best thing that I found in long term rehab was spirituality. This freed me from any worries that I had and helped to me to shape my new life. It allowed fro me to find a higher power which would aid me in solving my problems with Alcoholism. Long term youth drug rehab also serves as a good alternative for going to jail. It is almost like a second chance. I know for me that it served as a wake up call and gave me a lot of hope for my future. I will remain forever grateful for my experience and second chance in long term youth drug rehab.

By the grace of God I have only been to one treatment center. However, I’m constantly hearing and see people that have been in and out of thirty to ninety day programs and the result is nil for them. For me it took me a couple of months to realize that my problem was myself in addition to the drugs and alcohol. Treatment centers such as Gatehouse Academy really focus on the addict/alcoholic behaviors. I had to learn to reprogram the way that I thought. I feel that being at a treatment center for a year was the best thing for my life today.

When I was in early recovery I though 30 days was enough and 90 days was definately enough. For some reason I stayed longer. This I am grateful for because it took me six and a half months to mentally clear up and start wanting this deal. Any less than a year I don’t belive I would have stayed sober to this day.
