Pain Clinics in Florida have grabbed the attention of the national media, and have been labeled “legal drug dealers”. These clinics have been killing people daily, and enabling drug addicts (and drug dealers) to easily obtain narcotic pain killers.
These clinics treat drug addicts while at the same time giving pain patients addictive drugs that have been blamed for a spike in overdose deaths statewide. Some of the same clinics offering addiction treatment are often targeted by out-of-state drug couriers seeking painkillers for an illicit black market stretching from South Florida to Appalachia and the northeastern United States.
Many of the doctors working at these pain clinics serve as both pain and addiction specialists have been disciplined by state health officials for improper prescribing of drugs — and some have been convicted of crimes. Does this stop the federal government from allowing these doctors to prescribe narcotics? The answer is no, and something has to give. The state of Florida recently passed a bill that will mandate a computer tracking system in every one of these pain clinics. The downside to this is these clinics have two years before they are required to install the computers. That gives the drug runners, and addicts two more years of peddling, and abusing these highly-addictive, and deadly prescription drugs. In my time here at Gatehouse, I have seen first hand what the effect of Florida’s prescription drug “epidemic” has done to young adults. It is devastating to say the least, and two years is not soon enough!
My daughter and son-in-law are extremely addicted to Oxycontin, Roxicodone and Xanax. They have frequented many pain clinics in the Saint Lucie and Palm Beach County, Florida area to obtain these drugs. My daughter showed me the amount of pills these “so called doctors” prescribe to them … 100s of pills per month at high doses too. These narcotics have destroyed the lives of both my daughter and son-in-law. They both take 20-30 pills per day and are now injecting it into their vains for, I guess, a better, quicker high. They go through their prescriptions pretty fast and they have a network of “pill using” friends that when one runs out, they buy and sell them to each other for a high price. Also, when one can’t afford to go to the pain clinic to obtain the drugs, one will drive with them and go to a pain clinic for them, obtain the drugs, and sell them half and the “sponsor” will keep the other half, plus the money. Yes, they have a “sponsor” system between these pill-using addicted people. It’s literally destroying lives and killing people. My daughter also admitted to me that the “so called doctor” does not even examine them, he says “hi” and writes the prescriptions out, no questions asked! What I want to know, is how do I go about finding mothers, fathers and family members who want to organize and fight to bring down these pain clinics and close them forever? Anyone with ideas or know of organizations in the South Florida area who are coming together to fight this killer epidemic of legal drug dealers calling themselves “pain clinics, please reply. As I always do, I pray to the Lord that He exposes these evil entities and people, and brings an end to their days of praying on weak people for MONEY. How do they sleep at night? Also, my daughter has track marks all up and down her arms from melting this junk down and injecting it … THE DOCTOR KNOWS SHE’S AN ADDICT and keeps handing it to her like candy!
Florida…you’re a mess, and I am so very happy I moved from your state in 1988….sure we have way too many liberals in Massachusetts too, but this is ridiculous!
