Haylee’s Heroe’s
Lisa Rivers, a valued member of the Gatehouse staff, presented an awesome opportunity for residents to support a good cause. Back in March of 2003, Lisa’s daughter, Haylee, was granted a wish from the “Make a Wish Foundation”. Haylee was born with a cancerous tumor in her brain. Haylee’s wish was to spend a few days at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
The “Make a Wish Foundation” grants wishes to children with life threatening illnesses. Haylee’s wish came true with great thanks to the foundation. Last February Lisa got a group of Gatehouse residents together to participate in a Make a Wish walk, held in Scottsdale, AZ. About 15 residents spent the day enjoying the walk as well as other fun activities throughout the day. Out of the residents who volunteered for the walk, they raised $1,900.00. The money raised goes to support a wish.
On March 22 nd, 2005 Haylee passed away. Her mother Lisa wants to show her gratitude for the foundation in any way possible. Despite the tragedy of Haylee’s death in March, again Lisa got together a group of willing volunteers for another walk held this time in Prescott, Arizona. In dedication to Haylee I got the opportunity to design t-shirts for the team going to walk in Prescott. The team name is “Haylee’s Heroes”.
Again the team spent a fun filled day at a ranch up in Prescott, participating in the walk as well as other fun activities such as sack races, live music, BBQ, etc. This time Haylee’s Heroes raised an astonishing $2,500.00. Special thanks goes to Lisa Rivers and all of the staff, residents, friends, and families who support the cause.
