My New York Experience by Justin H.

My experience in New York is one that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.  With the help of Kelly and Anthony, I was able to clearly see my character defects for the lie that they are and to see the cycles and patterns that play out in my life.  I was able to see problems I ran into as opportunities for me to change and that my defects don't get me anywhere.  I put in the work to start changing my behaviors and God began changing my feelings of fear and insecurity to feelings of peace and happiness. 

I did two very powerful 4th and 5th steps with Kelly, which shed new light and insight on me and my past.  I was able to get down to the roots and causes of my problems and resentments, and I realized that I have always been a very sensitive person and tried to pretend like I was not.  I was able to see my part in resentments and that I had placed myself in a position to be hurt.  I did an incredible 6th and 7th step with Kelly that was nothing less than a spiritual experience.  I was able to clearly see my defects in my part in the resentments and was entirely ready to have them removed.  When I asked God to remove my shortcomings, I felt at perfect peace and ease and I felt the presence of my Creator.  In New York I got much closer to God and worked on strengthening my relationship with Him.  I got very close to the guys I was up there with and we talked out our problems with each other.  I can honestly say that I am a different person than when I arrived there.
