You don't have to stand on your head to do yoga, but it is one of the positions.
Margaret Konopacki has recently opened the Evolve Yoga and Meditation Center in La Siesta Plaza, 472 East Wickenburg Way, next to the motor vehicle office.
Konopacki has 15 years experience in personal practice and is a certified Ashtanga yoga teacher. She has traveled extensively and most recently spent two months in India visiting ashrams and learning various meditation techniques.
She came to Wickenburg to teach yoga in the recovery centers.
According to Konopacki, yoga starts with the physical body positions and breathing.
“We begin with the body, but through relaxation and breathing exercises we are able to move beyond the constant clatter of our minds and focus more clearly on life directions and the spiritual connection,” said Konopacki. “I guarantee people that with yoga they will sleep better and have better clarity of vision.”
Konopacki explained that yoga started from the Hindu religion, but it is itself not a religious practice. She explained that it is a spiritual practice and works well with all religious beliefs.
Because there are several disciplines of yoga, the studio has several different teachers who offer different classes. A schedule of public classes is posted on the door.
Konopacki can best be reached on her cell at (623) 341-0726.
