Will Linner
Will Linner says this about his Gatehouse experience: "I am proud and grateful to be another example of what this place does for people. I came here broken and without hope. I was encouraged and lead by the staff and the residents who had been there. Slowly, I found a desire for something better and began to change my way of living. Then I began to pass on what I had as best I could to others. This is what this place is about."
Will grew up in Ohio with many interests like music, film, and literature. These fell by the wayside during high school when drugs and depression took over. He spent his late teens and early twenties in and out of school, in short term employment, and in several programs for addiction and depression. Finally, Will came to Gatehouse in March 2005 with a lot of misgivings and not much hope. He made a decision to try a new way of living and has since come along way.
"I spent a year here as a resident and was challenged in ways that I didn’t expect and would have run from in the past. Upon commencement, I became an intern in the Therapeutic department and was able to learn so much from both staff and residents. I feel like I have been given opportunities that I never would have had anywhere else, and certainly I never would have had them without recovery. Now I am a staff member. I have an incredible job working with people. It’s amazing how life can change in recovery."
Will hopes to continue his education full time in the future and focus on his main area of interest: psychology.
"Right now I am really excited about being here. I knew that I wanted to continue to be a part of this place and I am. I couldn’t be doing anything more important or rewarding."
